European Transport Hub
This layout represents an industrial quarter of a small central European industrial town. Suburban main line with bus connections, car parking and a monorail link to the shopping centre combine with an old narrow gauge terminus site to form a transport interchange.
The narrow gauge line has had a new lease of life by winning a contract to move sewage sludge from the newly upgraded sewage works (not represented!) The tank wagons are loaded in the odour controlled loading shed. Doors must be closed once tankers are inside! A dedicated diesel loco is used to operate these trains seven days a week.
Passenger services are also provided on the narrow gauge by a railcar with steam hauled trains at weekends.
Some traffic disruption can be expected due to the installation of a new storm water drain.
