Blandings Road

Blandings Castle is the home of Lord Emsworth and the centre for many stories by P G Wodehouse.  The nearest town is Market Blandings, and we assume that this is served by the station “Blandings Road”.  The model represents the terminus of a branch line but it would appear that there were intentions of the line proceeding further, but this is where the money ran out.  His Lordship now had access to London , no additional funding was available from the Castle.
The train service comprises an Auto train shuttle, and through workings off some of the London expresses for the benefit of His Lordship or guests at the castle.
Goods traffic is typical of a rural area, primarily agricultural based, dairy produce, fertiliser, seed etc. and house coals together with seasonal fruit.
The location of Blandings has been researched by University College London and concluded that it must be at Apley Park in Hifnal, south east of Telford

Most of the pictuires of Blandings Road were taken at its last ever public outing which took place at Alton in 2008.
